MINNEAPOLIS — The head of the Transportation Security Administration said more resources will be dedicated to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to ease security checkpoint backups that created some long waits for travelers.

TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger visited the airport on Friday.

He said new bomb-sniffing dogs will help speed lines along. He also said Minneapolis will get some new TSA officers. In addition, overtime is approved for current staffers, which allows all security lines to be open during the busy spring break travel season.

On Friday afternoon, airport lines were moving quickly.

A week ago, only about half of the security lanes were open and some passengers waited more than an hour. Airport officials and political leaders called on the TSA to fix the problem.
