Kathy D. Evenson, 69, of Freeborn/Hartland died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at West Freeborn Lutheran Church in Hartland. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Freeborn Cemetery. The Rev. Kathy was born Dec. 5, 1946, to Donald and Shirley (Hayes) O’Brien. She graduated from Wells High School in 1964 and attended Waldorf College and Austin Community College, where she received a degree in human services. Kathy married Allan Evenson June 5, 1965, in Alden. Kathy worked many years on the farm, at EF Johnson and Elm Homes for 20 years until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and birds. Kathy liked watching all types of sporting events, especially the Vikings, Gopher Women’s Basketball and NASCAR. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. Kathy was especially proud of her Irish heritage.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Allan Evenson, of Freeborn/Hartland; daughters Rhonda (Steve) Haglund of Windom, Kelly (Glenn) Snyder of Rosemount and Darcy (Troy) Newman of Alden; grandchildren Kyle Haglund, Kayla Haglund (fiance, Shane Maas), Elizabeth and Miranda Snyder and Kelsey and Carter Newman; brother-in-law, Mark (Sue) Evenson of Alden; nephews Adam Evenson and family and Aaron Evenson and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents Frank and Clara Hayes and Matthew and Vesta O’Brien; and in-laws Galen and Lois Evenson.
