BURNSVILLE — Police in a Twin Cities suburb have fatally shot a man in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant.
Police were called about 6:15 a.m. Thursday to the McDonald’s near Highway 13 in Burnsville. Police Chief Eric Gieseke said five officers responded to a report of a suspicious person.
Gieseke said they encountered a suspect who had a weapon. The chief provided no other details about the shooting, but said there were no additional public safety concerns.
According to a press release, further information will come from the investigating agency, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Gieseke said the officers were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting. He said the city hasn’t had a fatal officer-involved shooting in 35 years.
