The regular meeting of the Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. March 17 at the Faribault Senior Citizen Center in Faribault. The meeting is free and open to the public.

According to a press release, the speaker will be Marvin “Stoney” Stonecipher of Cottage Grove. The topic will be slaves owning slaves. About 25 years ago Stonecipher and his wife were driving on the back roads of Louisiana when they came upon an old building. The words ‘Cotton and Slaves For Sale’ were barely legible on the building. That is when his interest in slavery and the Civil War began.

Decaffeinated coffee and food will be served after the presentation. At this time a question and answer session will also take place.
