To make sure there is enough to feed all who need help, The Salvation Army in Albert Lea is again participating in the Minnesota FoodShare March campaign.
There is always a need for corporations, congregations, civic groups, schools and individuals to organize food drives to help neighbors in their time of need, according to a press release. All food and monetary donations received during the month of March will go toward a partial grant match, which allows the organization to increase its buying power with the Channel One Food Bank.
The Salvation Army continues to need help as the number of people served through the food pantry increases.
Last year, 221,809 pounds of food was distributed through the pantry. The pantry is in present need of peanut butter, pasta, tomatoes, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, cereal and canned meats.
Food or monetary donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army, 302 Court St., Albert Lea, MN 56007.
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
