Loyalty Days Celebration planned

Loyalty Days Celebration will be May 6 and May 7 for the First District of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary members, as well as the citizens of Cannon Falls and those in the surrounding First District communities.

According to a press release, VFW Post No. 4452 and its auxiliary of Cannon Falls will host the annual weekend activity that highlights the meaning of Loyalty Days.

First District VFW Commander Curt Hermanson and First District VFW Auxiliary President Tammy Landon, both of Cannon Falls, will preside over the meetings.

The District Golf Tournament will take place at Cannon Golf Club at noon May 6. Awards will be presented at 5 p.m. at Post Home.

The VFW Post and Auxiliary members will conduct its meetings with registration beginning at 8 a.m. May 7. VFW Post members will meet at the VFW Post Home at 218 North Fourth St. in Cannon Falls and VFW Auxiliary members will meet at the Fire Hall/safety building across the street. Meetings will convene at 9:30 a.m. and conclude around noon. Lunch will follow at the Post Home.

Year-end reports will be given and awards presented to those auxiliaries which have exercised outstanding efforts in their communities.

Officers will be elected at each meeting with new officers being installed at a joint installation ceremony 2 p.m. May 7 at the Fire Hall/safety building and reception from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Post Home.

A testimonial dinner will be on May 7 to honor Hermanson and Landon. Social hour will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m.
