VIRGINIA — A third suspect has been charged in connection with an Iron Range homicide.

According to a press release, 19-year-old Sean Joseph Powers, of Hibbing, appeared in court Thursday. He’ll be appointed a public defender before his next court appearance July 8.

Powers is the second person charged with obstructing the investigation into the death of Jaysen Greenwood. The burned body of the 20-year-old Hibbing man was found last month in the Mott Pitt area of Mountain Iron.

A 16-year-old Hibbing girl is also charged with obstructing the investigation. According to the complaints, Powers and the girl lied to investigators about events the night Greenwood was killed.

According to a press release, Greenwood’s roommate, 19-year-old Dylan Gilbertson, was charged last month with second-degree murder. Gilbertson allegedly was mad at Greenwood over some stolen property.
