ST. PAUL — The Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis is lit in rainbow colors to commemorate the victims of the deadly shooting at a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton directed the Department of Transportation to make the symbolic gesture of sympathy through Thursday. The rebuilt bridge is equipped with a computerized lighting system. The I-35-W bridge collapsed in 2007, killing 13 people and injuring 145.

Dayton has also ordered Minnesota state flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset Thursday out of respect for the victims in Florida. The governor’s order coincides with a directive from President Obama for all U.S. flags at public buildings and grounds.
