Bulldogs’ offense stalls again

Lake Mills traveled to North Union Monday with the hopes of ending a two-game slide.
Only able to score three runs in their past two games, the Bulldogs were hoping for a breakout performance offensively.
Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.
North Union pitcher Colin Runksmeier had the Bulldogs cornered all night on his way to a complete game, and his offense put up seven runs in the fifth inning to end the game by way of the 10-run rule, 12-2.
Lake Mills scored one run in the second inning, but North Union countered with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
The same thing happened in the fifth inning.
Lake Mills cut the lead to 5-2, but North Union exploded in the fifth inning by plating seven runners.
The Bulldogs managed six hits, but Runksmeier just wasn’t giving up anything on this day.
Slade Sifuentes lasted just two innings for the Bulldogs. He allowed one hit, but walked four and gave up five runs, with only one being earned.
The loss is the third in a row for the Bulldogs, and it comes after they had previously won eight of 10.
They will host North Iowa tonight.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
