Funeral services for James A. Jensen, 83, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion honor guards. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Jim died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at his home.
James A. Jensen was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Albert Lea, the son of Wallace and Emyline Jensen. Jim grew up in Clarks Grove and Ellendale. He attended grade school in Ellendale and graduated from Albert Lea High School. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Army. Once he returned from the service, he farmed with his family until his 70s. He also worked as a driver for Clothing Care Center for 15 years and then maintenance at a hospital for 25 years.
On Sept. 12, 1964, Jim married Lois Arlene Peterson at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. He was a member of the American Legion. Jim enjoyed watching race car driving, football and wrestling since 1954. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their school activities. Jim enjoyed fishing, farming, arguing with his son and spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Arlene; children Tammy (Steve) Wencl and Brent (Julie) Jensen; grandchildren Garrett (Taylor Johnson) Wencl, Jessica Wencl, Stephanie (Matthew) McGary, Cole (Sara) Tlamka, Brandon Tlamka and Jenna (Elijah) Riggle; great-grandchildren Haidyn Riggle, Huntley Riggle and Ferris Tlamka; brothers Anton and family, Rollin (Penel), Leon (Mary), John (Carole) and Danny; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers W. Manfred and Melvyn.
