She was raised in Nimrod and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1995. She attended nursing school at Winona State University at Red Wing, where she obtained her nursing degree. She continued her passion for labor and delivery nursing at many hospitals including Regions in St. Paul, Mercy Hospital in Mason City and Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for the last 10 years. She loved her job, and didn’t consider it a job at all, but a privilege to work with all of the families she helped at the Baby Place.

On Feb. 25, 2006, she was united in marriage to Jerry Collins, just outside of Dakota City, Iowa.  To this union, two amazing children were born, and she was also raising Jerry’s two children as her own.

Becky was a member of the Minnesota Nursing Association as well as a Sister to the Choppers Motorcycle Club.

Becky’s life revolved around her children and family. She made sure that each of her kids had unique and enjoyable experiences in life, and it put a lovely, contagious smile on her face to see her kids happy. Her and her husband, Jerry, both shared a love of motorcycles and enjoyed attending benefit rides, club functions and riding to see friends and family. Becky also enjoyed reading, painting and playing games. She can be described as a loving, tenderhearted and happy person who loved her family. She was a tremendous nurse and co-worker.

She is preceded in death by all of her grandparents, as well as many other loving family members.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Jerry Collins; children Lucas, Hannah, Aidan and Ryan; parents Ardell Horton and special friend, Maggie, and Lila Horton; mother and father in-law Dennis (Jan) Collins; siblings Rachel (Tom) Klaphake and Jon (Anna) Horton; nieces and nephews, Hannah Klaphake, Madison and Landon Horton, Stephen Collins and Justin Shackelford; brothers and sisters in-law, CJ (Tara) Collins, Mary (Scottie) Vollrath, Suzanne (Casey) Hearn, Dawn Collins-Shackelford and Charlie Collins; her work family at The Baby Place; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family and will go towards her children’s education.
