Originally a Shakespearean tragedy of political manipulation and revenge, “Coriolanus” will be broadcast live in high definition on Saturday to the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

The performance, by the National Theatre in London, will feature an award-winning performance from Tom Hiddleston, who previously played in “The Avengers,” “War Horse” and “Crimson Peak.”

Set to begin at 7 p.m., the play is guaranteed to have viewers on the edge of their seats as the city of Rome calls on its hero, Coriolanus, to defend from an old adversary. However, there are enemies back home as well. Famine threatens the city, and upon returning from battle, Coriolanus must face the realpolitik and the voice of an angry people.

Described by MetroUK as “Unfailingly vivid — intelligent, brisk and brutal,” this Josie Rourke production will cost $20 for adults and $12 for students.
