SACRED HEART — Members of a church in Sacred Heart are hoping to rebuild after a lightning strike destroyed their historic building.

Hawk Creek Lutheran Church was struck by lightning Saturday morning and caught fire. There were no injuries.

According to a press release, church members were able to salvage some items, such as a decades-old bible and records of church members’ names. The fire was stopped before it burned the church’s altar.
