Hayward to host Hayward Days celebration

HAYWARD — The city of Hayward will celebrate Hayward Days this weekend with many events for the whole family.
The April Sorensen Half Marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Albert Lea and ends in Hayward. Information, including how to register, is available at www.livelaughloverun.com.
Hayward Lutheran Church will host a bake sale with a quilt and quilt chest raffle from 8 to 11 a.m. Coffee, juice and rolls will be served. The Hayward Booster Club car, bike and tractor show will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by Becker’s Auto and Transport. Food stands by the Hayward Booster Club will also be present during the event, and music will be provided by Jerry Brandt.
There will also be all-day rummage sales throughout town and a softball tournament at City Park.
Hayward Lutheran Church will host an outdoor church service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Hayward Blazing Star Trail Head dedication and celebration will follow later on from 1 to 4 p.m. Children’s games and food stands will be made available by the Hayward Booster Club once again.
There will also be a Fun Ride and Walk the Trail on Sunday. Lemonade and cookies will be served at the end of the trail by the lake and a bike raffle and and other prizes will be given away throughout the event in the park.
Mud bog races will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. The event will be at a different location this year. Those who would like to attend are instructed to take Front Street to the east side of town. Concessions by Piggy Blues will be available at the event.
