Immigration reform needed

Illegals live among us with impunity; we’re the ones being forced into the shadows. Have you noticed? Earlier this month, U.S Senate Democrats — led by Senate Minority leader Harry Reid — stopped two good bills from consideration.

One — sponsored by Sen. Patrick Toomey (PA-R) — would have stripped funding from sanctuary cities. The other — sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz — would have imposed stricter penalties on repeat border crossers.

Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell said the bills were backed by law enforcement and were designed to prevent more murders by illegal aliens. However, Senator Reid complained that the bills would undermine local law enforcement and overcrowd prisons.

But, take heart: Earlier this month in the U.S. House, at the request and urging of Rep. John Culberson (TX-R), the Department of Justice announced it would block certain federal grants from would require that state and local law enforcement take an oath that their policies would not interfere “in any way” with requests from federal authorities for immigration information.
