Memorial services for Margaret Schmitt, 83, of Emmons will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joyce Shaman will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Margaret died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Margaret Schmitt was born Aug. 16, 1932, on the family farm in rural Freeborn County, the daughter of Lewis and Vedie (Johnson) Aanrud. On Feb. 4, 1950, Margaret married Donald Schmitt. The couple made their home near Bear Lake. She stayed home raising their six children and helping Donald on the farm. Margaret was a member of United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Emmons. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, reading and most of all spending time with family.

Margaret is survived by her children Cindy (Randy) LaCore, Shelly Beers and Chad (Kris) Schmitt; grandchildren Shawn (Michelle) LaCore, Travis (Tonia Arbuckle) LaCore, Daniel (Leah) Wonderful, Alicia Spencer, Anna (Justin) Walter, Shauna (Brian) Reilly, Dustin (Sam) Klukow, Kayla (Ryan) Chrz, Brandon (Jodi) Klukow, Stacia Beers, Matthew Schmitt, Micah Schmitt and Eli Schmitt; many great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Bill) McCrea; brother, Stacey Aanrud; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; children Sonja Farmer, Daniel Schmitt and Jackie Jepson; granddaughter, Jarah Beers; and siblings Richard, Deloris, Roland, Owen, Nona, Dale and Vicky.
