Edlund named to ski jumping team

Trevor Edlund, 19, of Woodbury was recently named to the U.S .Nordic Sports Junior National Ski Jumping team for the third year in a row. On July 30, he participated in the 2016 U.S. National Large Hill Ski Jumping Championships at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah.
He finished in 10th place with competition jumps of 115 meters (377 feet) and 116.5 meters (382 feet).
Ski jumping has always been a part of his life. He is a third generation ski jumper in the Edlund family out of the St. Paul Ski Club and has been jumping competitively since he was 2 years old. Edlundwas introduced to the sport by his dad, who was once a member of the U.S. ski jumping team back in the late 70s.
This past winter season, Edlund had the privilege of representing the USA in competitions in Slovenia, Poland and Korea.
He has lived and trained in Park City for the past three summers and when the U.S. team is in Europe, they live and train at the ski jumps outside of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Edlund will travel to Slovenia Tuesday for about seven weeks, where he will train with the U.S. Team. He will also travel to Finland, Switzerland and Germany for FIS Cup competitions.
