Memorial services for Jane Ann Edwards of Albert Lea will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Jane died on Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was 56 years of age.
Jane was born Feb. 26, 1960, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Orvis and Betty (Bolstad) Rake. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Mankato State University. On Aug. 13, 1982, she was united in marriage to Douglas James Edwards. Together they had four children: Amber Jane (Lucas) Lacina of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mark Douglas (Molly) Edwards of Waterloo, Iowa, Daniel James Edwards of Minneapolis, and Matthew Palmer Edwards of Albert Lea. There are two grandchildren: Ava Grace and Knox Lucas Lacina; brother, David Rake of Albert Lea; and father, Orvis Rake of Albert Lea.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Rake; grandparents Sarah and Harry Bolstad and Clara and Johnnie Rake; father-in-law, Raymond E. Edwards and her beloved dog, Teal.
Jane was a mother/chiropractic assistant from the day she met Doug. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a school room mom for over 20 years.
She made it her sole purpose in life to care for her family and always made sure their needs were met before her own. She was a confidant and counselor with the rare ability to listen without passing judgement, and advice without reminding you how right she was the last time she gave you advice. She lived her life with great generosity, kindness, and above all, courage and inspired her family to do the same. Her legacy lives on in her husband, children and grandchildren.
