Albert Lea police have released the identity of the woman struck by a car on Wednesday in Albert Lea.

Police stated Dorothy Klinger, 84, of Corpus Christi, Texas, is in critical condition at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Klinger was crossing West Front Street mid-block on Wednesday between Fourth Avenue and Maplehill Drive, when she was hit by a 2000 Mercury Sable, driven by Daniel Davis, 68, of Albert Lea.

Davis was reportedly eastbound on Front Street and told police his eyes were blinded at the time from the sun.

Police stated witnesses confirmed they couldn’t see Klinger because of the location of the sun at that time of the day.

Klinger was not crossing the street in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
