Pedestrian injured after struck by car

A pedestrian was seriously injured this morning after she was struck by a vehicle in Albert Lea.

The pedestrian — an 84-year-old woman — was treated by emergency crews on scene and was transported by Gold Cross ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

A 2000 Mercury Sable driven by Daniel Davis, 68, of Albert Lea was heading east on Front Street when the vehicle crashed into the woman, who was walking across the street between Maplehill Drive and Fourth Avenue, according to an Albert Lea Police Department press release.

The Minnesota State Patrol was contacted to reconstruct the crash.

Albert Lea police were assisted by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Fire Department, Gold Cross ambulance and the State Patrol.

Neither speed nor chemical impairment are believed to be a factor in the crash.
