Memorial services for Rebecca L. Weigel of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Rebecca died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea after a brief battle with cancer. She was 58.
Rebecca was born Nov. 8, 1957, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Alvin and Evelyn (Siglowski) Schultz.
She graduated from Albert Lea High School. She spent many years up north near Black Duck, where she lived with her husband, Matt, for many years. She loved flowers, gardening, crafts of all kinds and living off the land. She also enjoyed woodcarving, embroidery and crocheting.
Rebecca is survived by her mother, Evelyn Schultz; brothers Steve Schultz, Tim Schultz and Michael (Christine) Schultz; sister, Kathy (Lowell) Jacobson; and nephews and niece Chris (Adrien) Jacobson and daughter Naysa, Ryan (Carrie) Jacobson and daughters Emma and Morgan, Amy (Jade) Pestorious and their children Mya, Ryder and Kaylee, Jeremy (Samantha) Jacobson and their children Grace and Cameron. There are many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Weigel; father, Alvin Schultz; brother, Robert Schultz; and her beloved cat, “OZ.”
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
