Weekend Planner: Albert Lea Floats to take place Saturday

Residents looking to get out on the water will have a chance to do so for free on Saturday during Albert Lea Floats.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will teach people how to use non-motorized forms of watercraft at Frank Hall Park. All skill levels welcome.

Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and other water activities will be free to everyone attending. People may bring their own vessels if they would like to use those as well.

The Pelican Breeze II will provide rides for a fee of $5, and Cargill will provide hotdogs.

The following is a roundup of other events taking place this weekend: Barns are Noble” exhibit. The Art center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The American Legion will host its annual sweet corn brat and hamburger feed from 3 to 10 p.m. Cost is $9 and includes all you can eat sweet corn. Other food is available, along with a beer garden and music! Free corndogs will be available for children 10 or younger.

The first annual Sophie Stultz Memorial Motorcycle Run will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at Bergdale Harley-Davidson on East Plaza Street. The afternoon will consist of a solo from Carrie Olvera, a silent auction, and a donation meal following the ride.

Registration for the ride is from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Cost is $15 for the first entry and $10 for additional entries. The ride leaves Bergdale Harley-Davidson at noon

The meal will follow at the Moose Lodge in Albert Lea.

 

Sunday

The American Legion will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will include sausages, diced potatoes, scrambled eggs with or without ham, fruit and more. Cost is $7.50.

The American Legion Post 56 will host a family golf event at Green Lea Golf Course, open to anyone. Cost to register is $50 per person, which includes dinner. Tee time is 1 p.m., with dinner following at 5 p.m. For questions regarding registration, contact Barry Coughlin at 373-5536.

Prayer in the Park will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Edgewater Park open pavilion.

 

Friday

The Albert Lea Art Center continues its display of its “Barns are Noble” exhibit. The Art center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Pelican Breeze Pizza cruise will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Pizza will be provided by Green Mill. Tickets cost $20, and include both pizza and the cruise. They can be purchased by calling 383-7273.

Saturday

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will offer local produce, baked goods, meats, crafts, gluten-free goods, flowers, bedding plants and much more from 9 a.m. to noon at Northbridge Mall.

The Mud Fun Run will be at Edgewater Park, across from the Edgewater Bay pavilion, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration is $10 per child ages 5 to 13 and will take place at City Arena.
