Falcons clip Tigers in girls’ tennis with furious rally

The Albert Lea girls’ tennis team was looking for a victory Thursday afternoon against Faribault.
The Tigers did extremely well in singles’ play, but faltered in doubles’ play, as they lost the match, 4-3.
Lexus Saltou, Samantha Skarstad and Anna Boettcher picked up victories in singles’ actions.
“(Lexus), (Sam) and (Anna) all won their matches with commanding style,” said Tigers coach Chris Withers. “All three, but especially (Lexus) did a great job of getting to and winning points at the net.
The Tigers held a 3-1 lead after singles’ play, but just couldn’t overcome a fierce rally by the Falcons.

No. 2 Sara Kabrud/Kaeden Kirchner v. Abby Goodwin/Erica Johnsrud 4-6, 6-1, 4-6.
No. 3 Maddy Prihoda/Maggie Moeller v. Laura Hoffstutter/Rachel Bostwick 5-7, 3-6.
The Tigers will be back in action against Red Wing, in a match that was rescheduled, Monday.
It is one of three matches for the Tigers next week.
Start time for the match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
