Fall hours for transfer station announced

Fall hours for the Albert Lea Transfer Station and Demolition Landfill will begin Oct. 1. And run through Nov. 30. Hours will be from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
Services provided at the site include household garbage disposal, demolition debris disposal, brush disposal and yard waste composting for those with a compost permit, electronics recycling, appliance recycling, used oil recycling, scrap metal recycling, cardboard/paper recycling and glass and can recycling.
The 2016 compost permits are pink. These permits are $10 for city residents, $15 for non-city residents, $100 for city commercial businesses and $150 for non-city commercial businesses. Permits must be visibly placed on the windshield when using the site. These permits allow customers unlimited use of the compost site for the calendar year and will be available for purchase at the transfer station and city hall.
