ITC Midwest donated $25,000 to the Albert Lea splash pad effort on Wednesday with a crowd of splash pad committee members and other community leaders.
The splash pad, which is slated to be installed at the corner of Fountain Street and Broadway, is projected to cost $150,000.
Lori Broghammer, ITC Midwest area manager of local government and community affairs, said when ITC was approached about the project, the company felt it was a great way to continue its community commitment and support.
Broghammer said Albert Lea has been a wonderful partner since the company located its operating facility in Albert Lea eight years ago.
“At ITC, our community commitments extend well beyond providing reliable energy,” she said. “We believe it is our responsibility to take an active role in developing long-lasting relationships and partnerships within our communities. We are dedicated to being good neighbors and are committed to provide support for projects that are important to the communities we are privileged to serve.”
She said the company looks forward to the completion of the project and its continued partnership with the city.
