After a thrilling victory last Friday against Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, the NRHEG Panthers hosted Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Friday night.
Both teams entered halftime tied at 14, but a Perry Peterson touchdown in the third quarter ended up being the difference, as the Panthers edged the Buccaneers, 30-22.
“We have had some very good weeks of practice and have taken some steps forward,” said Panthers coach Dan Stork.
The Panthers got on the board in the first quarter, thanks to a 20-yard run by Peterson. Peterson added another touchdown run in the second quarter, and then converted the two-point conversion to make it 14-7.
Peterson’s third touchdown came from one yard out in the third quarter. Quarterback Sam Prigge scored from one yard out in the fourth quarter.
“I thought our offensive and defensive lines did a great job,” Stork said. “The (Buccaneers) couldn’t get their run game going.”
The Panthers held the Buccaneers to 80 yards rushing, while rushing for 296 yards themselves.
NRHEG will be on the road against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Friday.
Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
