Lake Mills notched its second win of the season by getting huge performances from Marcus Escherich and Slade Sifuentes to beat Belmond Klemme, 31-21, Friday night.
“It was a great win for us,” said Bulldogs football coach Bill Brynes. “It was a very hard-fought battle. We didn’t quite have the energy we had in the past weeks, but we made enough plays to win.”
The Bulldogs got a big performance from Escherich, who rushed 24 times for 111 yards and Sifuentes rushed six times for 53 yards, but scored three touchdowns.
Wide receiver Tommy Kaktis caught two passes, including a 51-yard touchdown from quarterback Cael Boehmer in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs scored points in every quarter, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
“We have two wins on the season, which is an improvement over lasy year, but we have a lot of things we still need to clean up on offense and defense,” Brynes said. “But we will enjoy this win and we will continue to work hard to try to improve for Denver.
Lake Mills will host Denver (3-0) Friday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
