Tigers fall in home-opener

Thursday afternoon downpours forced most outdoor athletics to be cancelled.

There was enough water outside to have a swimming meet, but the meet between Rochester Mayo and Albert Lea was still held indoors.

It was the home opener for the Tigers, as they were looking for their first victory of the season.

The Tigers fell behind early, but then made a comeback before falling short, 90-82.

The Tribune was unable to acquire full results of the meet.

Some highlights included sophomore Emily Taylor winning the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:21.35 and the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:12.50.

Eighth-grader Jaeda Koziolek continued to impress in the pool. She finished third in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:12.78, and then took fourth in the 100-meter fly with a time of 1:16.05.

The Tigers will have a week to regroup and practice before they host the Owatonna Huskies Thursday.

Start time for the meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
