Weekend Planner: 89th annual Shortstop tournament happening this weekend

The 89th annual Shortstop Golf Tournament will take place this weekend at Green Lea Golf Course.
The tournament, one of the longest-running golf tournaments in the state, is expected to begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and continue Sunday and Monday at the same times.
The event is limited to the first 112 paid entries. Participants must be 21 or older to enter.
The first day is spent qualifying, while the second and third days are spent with players squaring off.
Green Lea Golf Course is at 101 Richway Drive.
The following is a roundup of other events taking place this weekend:
Friday
• The Pelican Breeze II will host a pizza cruise at 6 p.m. from Frank Hall Park. Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. Cost is $20 for pizza and the cruise. To reserve a spot, call 383-7273.
Saturday
• The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot outside Northbridge Mall. The market offers local produce, baked goods, meats, crafts and other items.
• A tribute show to popular performers Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and Buddy Holly, along with Denny & the D.C. Drifters, will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot outside Northbridge Mall. The market offers local produce, baked goods, meats, crafts and other items.
• A tribute show to popular performers Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and Buddy Holly, along with Denny & the D.C. Drifters, will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 377-4371 or online at www.actonbroadway.com.
Sunday
• The Alden American Legion will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, milk, juice and coffee. Cost is $5. Children under 6 eat free.
• The Eagles Club will host a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, juice, milk and coffee. Cost is $8 to attend.
• The Golden K-1 Kiwanis Club will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast featuring Denny Brue Pancakes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairlane Building of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. Meal includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds go to high school scholarships and youth activities.
• The Pelican Breeze II will leave Frank Hall Park for a cruise at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for the cruise. No reservations needed. People should be at the dock by 1:15 p.m.
