1. Autumn Blaze Festival
Downtown Albert Lea will host the Autumn Blaze Festival Saturday with activities for all ages.
Family activities will begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m. and will include a magician, a bouncy house, a kiddie train, pumpkin painting, face painting and other Albert Lea Parks and Recreation games.
Starting at 11 a.m., arts, crafts and food vendors will be open, and at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., Bob Tewes, owner of Crescendo, will offer cooking demonstrations.
From 4 p.m. to midnight, people are encouraged to bring their own tables and chairs to Broadway to enjoy food and drinks to enjoy autumn in Albert Lea with new and old friends.
Craft beers and wines will be available starting at 11 a.m. and going through midnight.
From 7 p.m. to midnight, there will be live music from Echo Messenger and Bitter Roots.
2. Splash Dash family 5k walk/run
A tie-in with the Autumn Blaze Festival, Mothers of Preschoolers and Moms Next will present the Splash Dash family 5k walk/run Saturday morning starting on North Broadway.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the race starting at 10 a.m.
The event is a fundraiser for the Albert Lea splash pad at the intersection of Broadway and Fountain Street.
Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for school-age children or $70 for families.
There will be light refreshments and water at the finish line, and prizes will be given out for top finishers and the participant with the craziest outfit.
3. Fír
Irish natives David Shannon and Simon Morgan will perform as Fír at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Lea High School auditorium as part of the 2016-17 Albert Lea Civic Music Series.
The two men have traveled the world performing with some of the top orchestras from America, Asia, Europe and Australia.
Their music is a classical crossover with a modern Irish feel, according to the Civic Music website.
Tickets are available by season ticket only for $95 per family, $45 for an adult or $15 for students under 30.
4. R.A.D. Zoo
As part of Choose Civility Month, the R.A.D. Zoo will bring animals for children at the Albert Lea Public Library to interact with from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
5. Amaranth breakfast
Albert Lea’s Masonic Lodge will host an amaranth pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the lodge in the upper floor of the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Humane Society of Freeborn County will volunteer to wait tables.
