Albert Lea’s lakes are healthier now

How many times have you looked at pictures of our lakes showing sunsets, Katherine Island, our gazebo, happy fishermen holding their catch up for all to see? They are great pictures of great times, of people enjoying our great lakes. Would these things happen if we let our lakes go? Think of murky brown water, big, wide marshes and weeds instead of water.
Our lakes are healthier now. We have clear water from a couple of feet to five-feet deep. Even the green duckweed this fall was a sign of healthier water. Our watershed board has been working to restore game fishing and build the buffer strip program. Instead of raising our property taxes, let’s join together to continue to work to restore our lakes by voting “yes” to extend our local sales tax.
