The students, faculty and friends of St. Casimir’s School in Wells participated in the annual Knights of Columbus Marathon for Nonpublic Education Sept. 30. According to a press release, the event enables those who support and advocate nonpublic education to make a public demonstration of their belief and involvement.
To participate in the fundraising event, the students obtained donation pledges from sponsors prior to the marathon. The funds raised through the event benefit all students through faith-building activities, school assembly programs, field trips, computer software and individual classroom needs, among other items.
Gathering in front of St. Casimir’s School, participants paraded through downtown Wells and on to Half Moon Park, from which they walked or jogged as many laps around the park as possible.
Following the last lap, Knights of Columbus members Harold Goeden and Tom Schindler awarded door prizes to the student body.
