After losing 4-0 to the Northfield Raiders in the second game of the season, the Albert Lea girls’ soccer team returned to Northfield Thursday night with the stakes raised. The two teams competed in the quarterfinals of the Section 2A tournament.

It was a much closer match this time around, but the Tigers just couldn’t push across any goals, losing to the Raiders, 2-0, and ending their season.

“I am very proud of this team as a whole with the effort they put forth,” said Tigers coach Laura Wangen.

Albert Lea managed a seven-win turnaround from a year ago. The Tigers went 10-7 in 2016 after finishing 3-9-2 in 2015.
