5 things to do this weekend

1. Veterans Day ceremony

Area veterans will walk from the American Legion on North Broadway to the Freeborn County courthouse at about 11 a.m. Friday, where there will be a short ceremony outside, followed by a ceremony inside in the commissioners room. This year’s speaker will be Clarence Tovar.

2. St. Theodore Catholic School pancake breakfast

St Theodore Catholic School will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Proceeds will benefit the school as part of the Give to the Max fundraiser, which will be used for buying new technology for the school and new reading curriculum.

People can visit www.givemn.org and search “St. Theodore” to donate directly to the fundraiser, or email kgoskeson@gmail.com to be added to the Give to the Max mailing list.

The goal is to raise $10,000.

Cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under and free for children 3 and under.

3. Lens & Shutter Club exhibit

The Albert Lear Art Center will host the Albert Lea Lens & Shutter Club’s favorite personal photographs at 226 W. Clark St. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The exhibit runs through Nov. 23.

4. Pop-up art show

The Freeborn County Arts Initiative’s pop-up art show will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 224 S. Broadway. The show was created by more than a dozen artists over a three-day span. Cost to enter is free, and all of the artwork centers around the theme of wind.

5. A Bantam hockey tournament

The A Bantam hockey tournament will take place all weekend, from Friday through Sunday at City Arena, 701 Lake Chapeau Drive.
