Administrator’s Corner: Coaches lead to success

Success coaches in the Albert Lea Area Schools district are bi-lingual and multi-lingual speaking staff members. They are part of the district’s achievement and integration program. The purpose of this state-funded program is to:
Pursue racial and economic integration
Increase student achievement
Create equitable educational opportunities
Reduce academic disparities based on students’ diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds in Minnesota public schools
The success coaches support the students and staff through assisting students with academics as needed, regular communication to families and interpreting for parents at school meetings, conferences and any other times throughout the year.
Having a strong school and family partnership is important for student success.
The district believes parents and teachers as partners in education is vital to the education of the child. The district celebrates diversity and the staff connects with students of all backgrounds to be culturally responsive in teaching.
According to a press release, the district’s mission is to ensure individual academic, social and emotional growth that leads to engaged citizens and lifelong learners. The success coaches play a vital role for this is the schools.
