Donna Mae Allen

Donna Mae was born March 29, 1933, in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County, the daughter of Andrew and Mildred (Brandt) Kirkeide. She married Roman Dylla May 10, 1951, and to this union nine children were born: Diane, Denny, Deb, Darcy, Dynette, David, Darrin, Duane and Denise. Roman died Nov. 9, 1980. Donna married Jerry “Andy” Allen of Alden on Nov. 25, 1982. Donna had many jobs in her lifetime. She was a care taker, actory worker, cook, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, gardener, seamstress, nurse, taxi driver, card player, bingo player, puzzle player, tooth fairy, Easter bunny and Santa Claus. She enjoyed the simple things in life and was most happy when she was helping others. Donna always wanted to do more for her family.

Her life was simple and she wanted it that way. She had many challenges in her life and her strength shined through. Because of the simple life she led, Donna requested and asked her children to simply “remember me.” She has requested no funeral and her family respects and honors her wish and asks that her friends and family also “Remember this simple woman who was happiest doing for others.” Words cannot express how much she will be missed or how grateful her children are that Donna was their mom. Rest in peace dear Mom, you may be gone but will never be forgotten.
