Harold Slocum

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud for Harold W. Slocum, 82, of St. Cloud who died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016. The Rev. Bruce Timm will officiate and burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Relatives and friends may gather after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Harold was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Harold and Swanie (Ennege) Slocum. He married Ruth Garms on June 21, 1959, at Sioux Valley Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley.
Harold proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a teacher for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He taught at the high schools in Canby and Albert Lea and also at the vocational technical college in Albert Lea. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Harold loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth; his sons Brad and Craig (Mary) both of St. Cloud; granddaughter, Katie; and brothers, Earl (Rita) of Brewster and Bruce (Carolyn) of Windom; and sisters, Donna (Corky) Salstrom of Mesa, Arizona, and Alice Reese of Eau Claire, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Stanley, Steve and Danny, in infancy; sisters Ruth Kroge, Patsy McGregor and Janice, in infancy.
