Minnesota dominates Seton Hall

The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team earned its most dominant victory of the season, beating Seton Hall 90-57. Minnesota (4-0) outrebounded the Pirates (3-1) 66-42. The Gophers’ rebounding total was two off the program record of 68 which last occurred in 1989.

The Gophers have started all three of head coach Marlene Stollings’ seasons 4-0, the first such streak in program history. All four of Minnesota’s wins this season have been against 2016 postseason teams. The first three opponents played in the 2016 WNIT, while Seton Hall made it to the past two NCAA Tournaments.

Carlie Wagner led four Gophers in double figures with 20 points. Kenisha Bell tallied 17, Gadiva Hubbard 13 and Jasmine Brunson 11. Taiye Bello notched 12 rebounds, and Jessie Edwards had eight.

Minnesota shot 48.7 percent in the second half following a cold first half for both teams. The Gophers led 40-24 at halftime, then broke the game open with a 31-15 third quarter.

Deja Winters and Skyler Snider each had 10 points for the Pirates.
