1. Dylan Kaercher’s Christmas Show
Set on a late 1950s TV show set, the eighth annual Dylan Kaercher’s Christmas Show will be filled with familiar holiday songs that audiences will want to tap their feet and sing along to.
The show includes performers from more than eight different cities around southern Minnesota and Iowa and will include song, dance comedy and Christmas cheer as the cast finds the true meaning of Christmas.
Shows will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, along with 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the box office or online at www.actonbroadway.com. The box office opens two hours before the performance on show day. Tickets are also available by calling 1-877-730-3144.
2. “The Christmas Carol: A Radio Play Reading”
Travel back in time to the 1940s for a radio show production of “The Christmas Carol.”
The production will be at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday at The Lighthouse Theatre & Event Center.
People are invited to dress up in Christmas outfits from the 1940s and ’50s. Attendees will have the opportunity to sing carols and have treats after the production.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They are available at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee, Stadheim Jewelers, Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau and Coffee House on Main in Austin. They can be purchased online at http://lighthouseeventcen.wix.com/lighthouse.
3. Candy Cane Hunt
The annual Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Candy Cane Hunt will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Edgewater Bay Pavilion.
Santa and his elves have hidden hundreds of candy canes, and children are invited to come out and see how many they can find.
Candy canes come in all shapes and sizes. Children who find a special colored candy cane will get a prize.
After the hunt, there will be hot chocolate, treats, games and a craft. Santa will also make an appearance.
4. Festival of Trees
The Albert Lea Art Center’s annual Festival of Trees continues from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Northbridge Mall.
Forty decorated trees will feature decorations and messages.
