Funeral services for Dennis Dean Hanson of Albert Lea will be at 3 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Linda Johnson Prestholt will officiate. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Dennis died Thursday evening, Dec. 8, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Albert Lea. He was 58.
Dennis was born Sept. 8, 1958 in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Roger and LaVonne (Clark) Hanson. He attended Belmond schools until moving to Mason City in 1965.
Dennis went into the trucking industry at a very early age and in 2006 he stepped out to create his own business, Hanson Truck Line, in Albert Lea.
Dennis kept very busy with his business and loved doing it. He was interested in car shows and his own hot rod in his spare time. He also had his dog, Bella, who was always at his side.
Dennis was a very generous man and shared his blessings with many. He had no children of his own but adopted many in his heart. When anyone was having a crisis in their life, Dennis would be there to comfort and help them through it. He loved helping others to meet their dreams in life.
He was elected to join a car club in November this year and enjoyed meeting new people and made lots of friends. In October 2015 Dennis was given the gift of life through a dear friend, Steve Schiff, who donated his kidney.
Those left to cherish his memory include three brothers, Loren Hanson (Diane) of Mason City, Ronald Hanson (Tammie) of Mason City and Eugene Hanson of Woodward, Iowa; sister, Lois Schwartz, of Many, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Hanson, and wife, Diane; sister, Linda Thayer, and husband, Claude; niece, Amanda Gomez Cook; nephew, Scotty Phifer; and two loving pets, Bunky and Beaner.
