FARIBAULT — Faribault police said a man and a child have been found dead in a home.

Police officers and a Rice County sheriff’s deputy were called to the home Sunday afternoon. A neighbor reported seeing a man lying in the entryway through a window. Officers forced their way into the home and found the body of a man on the floor. Authorities also found the body of a child in the home and saw a firearm at the scene.

The names of the man and child have not been confirmed. Detectives are working to identify the bodies and are interviewing neighbors.

Police said there appears to be no danger to the public.
