Mayo Clinic Health System will host an open house to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of the first Express Care Clinic, according to a press releae. The public is invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Albert Lea Express Care Clinic, located within Hy-Vee, 2708 Bridge Ave. in Albert Lea, to commemorate the 10th anniversary.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the Express Care team and talk with Mayo Clinic Health System administrators about the offerings of Express Care. Refreshments will be provided.

The Express Care in Albert Lea opened in December 2006 and was the first Mayo Clinic Health System Express Care location. Mayo Clinic Health System now operates nine Express Care clinics. The Express Care service was created to provide quality care in a convenient location for patients.

The Express Care clinics are staffed by advanced-practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants) and offer treatment for conditions like sore throats, sinus infections, colds and flu, and minor cuts. No appointments are necessary, and most insurance are accepted.

The clinics are open extended hours on weekdays and weekends, and offer the benefit of connectivity through Mayo Clinic Health System’s electronic health record.
