Albert Lea wrestling wins 2 matches at Doc Carr Duals in Iowa

The Albert Lea wrestling team traveled to New Hampton, Iowa, to compete in the Doc Carr Duals over the weekend.
Of the three scores reported from the weekend, Albert Lea finished with a record of 2-1 with the only loss coming in its first match against New Hampton (49-15).
Albert Lea ripped Waterloo East (58-21) and Dover-Eyota (56-12).
Albert Lea’s matches against Southeast Polk and Waukon were not reported.
Against Waterloo East, Albert Lea tallied nine falls, including four in the first four matches.
Nic Cantu, Cole Indrelie and Jake Johnsrud pinned their opponents in under 45 seconds, and it took Caleb Talamantes 1:31 to pin his.
Albert Lea held a 24-0 lead after the four matches. Ty Harms, Garrett Aldrich, Zach Glazier, Spencer Indrelie and Brady Nielsen also earned falls.
The Tigers’ dominance also showed against Dover-Eyota.
Albert Lea won 11 of the 14 matches and added five more falls to bring its total to 14 falls in its two wins.
Dover-Eyota won the first match, but Albert Lea scored 56 of the matches’ next 65 points, including winning seven consecutive matches.
Five of the seven wins in that streak were by fall.
Albert Lea will return home and host Mankato West and Rochester Century in a triangular Thursday.
