Author Cheri Register visited Albert Lea High School Jan. 12. Register spoke about her award-winning book, “Packinghouse Daughter.” Register is the daughter of a Wilson & Co. millwright. In her book, she recalls the 1959 meatpackers’ strike that divided Albert Lea and the violence that erupted when the company replaced its union workers with strikebreakers tested family loyalty and community stability. - Provided
