The Northwood-Kensett girls’ basketball team has been in a bit of a rut the last month. The Vikings have only won two of their last seven games, but they were looking for their second win of 2017 when Osage came to town Friday.
Northwood-Kensett got off to a good start, but Osage battled back and the game was tied at the end of regulation.
In overtime, Osage took control and beat Northwood-Kensett 56-52 to send the Vikings to a record of 4-7.
Laura Hopperstad led the Vikings with 17 points and Calli Christiansen tallied 14 and five assists before fouling out. Terran Haberman grabbed nine rebounds and Mackenzie Costello added eight for the Vikings.
Northwood-Kensett shot 16-36 from the field and 9-17 from three in the loss. What hurt the Vikings was missed free throws. They went 11-26 from the line.
Northwood-Kensett will host North Butler on Tuesday.
