Gasteiger’s 31 points give Bulldogs 10th win

Losers of three of five, the Lake Mills girls’ basketball team looked to regain the form of the team that had started out 7-1.

Friday was a step in the right direction.

The Bulldogs took down Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 63-54, and Lake Mills senior Lexi Groe snagged her 800th rebound of her career.

“We came out of the gates a bit slow,” Lake Mills coach Thad Evans said. “But we got engaged offensively and everything started to click.”

Lake Mills was led by a career-high 31 points from Jewell Gasteiger. She also added five rebounds and four steals.

The Bulldogs scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 29-28 lead into the locker room, and the offense continued to click in the second half as they scored 17 in each of the final two quarters.

Jessa Gasteiger was the only other player to score in double figures for the Bulldogs. She finished with 11 points.

Groe had 10 rebounds to go along with six points.

Lake Mills moves to a record of 10-5.

It played North Butler on Saturday.
