AUSTIN — A 41-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound early Friday in southwest Austin, although details of the shooting were still being investigated by Austin police at press time.

Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said authorities were called at 5:41 a.m. to Western Manor, 2600 Third Ave. SW.

When officers arrived, however, the victim had been taken in a personal vehicle by another person to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. His condition was not known Friday morning, Krueger said.

The man’s address is listed as being from Darfur, a small town in Watonwan County.

Other details of the sequence of events and where the shooting took place were yet to be released.

“Obviously, this is still an active investigation,” Krueger said.
