Marjorie Amsden of Maple Grove died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at 96, surrounded by family and friends.

Marjorie was born on Nov. 19, 1920, in Strandburg, South Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nelson. At the age of three, the family moved to a farm near Milbank, South Dakota. She graduated from Milbank High School and later went to college in Aberdeen, South Dakota, for a year. After leaving Aberdeen, she taught in a country school for six years.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bob) Krogsgaard, of Maple Grove; two granddaughters, Tracy (Elfego) Bolanos of Elk River and Laura (Antonio) Krogsgaard of Maple Grove; and five great-grandchildren, LJ, Brielle, Sophie, Madelyn and Devon.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 308 Water St. in Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
