The month of January has been kind to the NRHEG girls’ basketball team.
Since the start of the new year, the Panthers have won five of six games, and were looking to make it six of seven Friday night against Medford.
A balanced attack on offense and aggressive defense led to a 77-30 blowout for NRHEG.
Four players scored in double-figures, with Marnie Wagner, Rachel Collins and Kayla Camerer each scoring 14 points. Betsy Schoenrock had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
“The girls came ready to work,” Panthers coach Onika Peterson said after the game. “We looked sharp defensively and had a great night shooting the ball.”
The victory pushes NRHEG to 13-5 overall and 9-0 in the Gopher Conference.
But the schedule will stiffen a bit this coming week.
NRHEG will play at Waseca (14-3) on Tuesday, at Triton (2-15) on Thursday and at Fairmont (7-10) on Saturday.
