Halverson Elementary School students have been discussing Andy Warhol, a famous American printmaker and pop artist. Students first created radial balanced snowflakes using the Japanese art of paper cutting, known as kirigami. Then they used kirigami to make a print like Warhol. The project followed the standards of: follow directions and respect tools and equipment; use the elements of visual art including line, shape, color, texture, value, form and space; create artwork that demonstrates a type of balance (radial, symmetrical, asymmetrical); and use kirigami to cut a snowflake.
